The History 

A 1920’s home situated in a tranquil location on the Jurassic coast  – an area renowned for its coastal views, beautiful beaches and bird life.

The House Today

Designers Peter and Wendy Cartwright have converted their home into luxury B&B accommodation, offering modern comforts in tranquil surroundings.

Inside

• Style: Designed for style and comfort, with antique pine floors and soft kelims.
• Bedrooms and Bathrooms: Two double bedrooms, each with a comfy bed, crisp sheets and a luxurious en suite bathroom. Each room has its own entrance onto the garden and the front room boasts a stunning view of Portland and Weymouth Bay.
• For relaxation: Relax to the sounds of the waves breaking and bird calls, or take a leisurely stroll to Lulworth Cove.
• For recreation: A lazy day on the beach or a cliff-top hike along the coast path.
• Practicalities: Both of the bedrooms have a TV and radio.

Food and Wine 

• In-house cuisine: English or Continental breakfasts use fresh farm produce and include homemade bread. No evening meals.
• Eating out: A selection of excellent local restaurants recommended by your hosts include The Smugglers Inn, The Sailors Return Inn, The Weld Arms and The Blue Vinny pub and restaurant.

Six acres of terraced and wooded garden is a lush haven on the doorstep of the wild Jurassic coast.

Getting there:

• On the map: Overlooking the sea between Lulworth Cove and Weymouth, to the east of Ringstead.
• By car: About 3 hours from London
• By train: Take the train to Weymouth (about 10 miles from the property) from where you can hire a car (a car is an essential to explore the area)
• By air: The nearest airport is Bournemouth (about 25 miles away).

Peter and Wendy are both designers, their flair for style evident in the layout and décor of their home. Your hosts are more than happy to lend maps and offer directions for local walks and activities.

Out and About

• Step out onto the staggering Jurassic Coast and walk along the coast path to Lulworth Cove, via Bat’s Head and Durdle Door
• Try windsurfing at Ringstead Beach or kitesurfing at Portland
• Visit some of Dorset’s famous gardens including Abbotsbury
• Spot birds and butterflies and explore the rare flora that abounds in your natural surroundings.
